The Magnolia / Columbia County Literacy Council is a non-profit organization that is geared toward helping adults, teens, and children to improve their reading, writing, and math skills. We also attempt to improve life skills and increase employability in order to break the intergenerational cycle of illiteracy.

In order to accomplish these goals the MCCLC attempts to:

  • Recruit and tutor those people whose reading, writing, math, or parenting skills need improvement
  • Provide family enrichment programs
  • Train volunteers to teach basic skills and/or tutor children in family literacy programs
  • Solicit interest and cooperative effort from the citizens of the community in the activities of the literacy council
